Insomnia was formed in 1999 as the South Point High School band. After many changes in the line up the new members were all from different schools:
On 7 July, 2002 Insomnia performed their first show as a professional in Music World, Park Street.
"Proloyer Shomoye" is the bands second album and their first Bengali album. It was recorded in Kolkata between the month May and August in the year 2006. The Album reflects contemporary times that we live in, the times of turbulence. The band radically changed their sonic direction to New Age Alternative with this album.
Sayantan Neogi (Ninnai) from La Martiniere for boys of Kolkata, Prasenjit Chakrabutty (Pom) from Don Bosco of Park Circus and Souvik Gupta (Savvy) from Nava Nalanda High School.
